I wanted to do an artwork that worked with the concept of dualism (body and mind). I decided to use Pino from Ergo Proxy as the subject. Specifically, I drew her both pre- and post-cogito infected.
The materials used were the following:
The paints were mainly acrylics, with some watercolors. Rabbit-suit Pino was colored entirely with the acrylic and watercolor paints; dark-dress Pino was colored with a mixture of CG and watercolors. The only parts of dark-dress Pino that were colored with traditional paints were her skin (face and hands) and the white parts of her clothing (shirt and socks). The clothing was colored with basic CG. Both versions of Pino were inked with pen, using Saji-pen tips for the clothing and Maru-pen tips for fine details in the clothing and on her face. The background was colored entirely with CG. There were many layers and many copies of layers--I lost count of how many. Finally, I enhanced the various layers with CG effects (blurring, color balance, color saturation, brightness-contrast, and transparency).
